Well, I’m still playing catchup from falling behind last week, so I’ll try to keep this short. The news, of course, seems to be focused on ISIS and the burning of the pilot video.
What can you say? When I was growing up, there was a kid in my class by the name of Franky Bolin who was as crazy as anyone I’ve ever met. I heard once that he had set a cat on fire. I thought at the time that that was as cruel and as mad as a human being could get. He’s dead now and I have to say it’s a good thing. The world’s a better place without the person I knew.
I later met his father, and it was a little easier to understand how Franky came to be. But there is really no excuse, either for him or for them. My best friend in college came from an abusive home, but he was never that way. Like I said, there’s just no real excuse for coming to adulthood as crazy as these people.
Nonetheless, there are times I’m tempted to say let’s just nuke the whole lot. It’s not politically correct–not even logically defendable–but sometimes I’m just ready to let the ones who aren’t really crazy go with the rest of them just to get rid of the ones who clearly are.
